Do the Right Thing

There are 100 things you should know about love. However, let’s boil them down to two. Increase your self-esteem by doing what’s right. Increase your relationship skills by treating others with kindness. Both increases will support you to have your dream relationship with an awesome partner.

Let’s start with self-esteem. Self-esteem is another phrase for liking yourself. In other words, you do actions that support your highest good mentally, emotionally and physically. Not only do you treat yourself well, you treat other people with respect and compassion, too. The more you like yourself the easier it is to see life’s facts and make decisions in your best interest. Call it enlightened self awareness.

Liking yourself leads you to do what is right for you even when you don’t feel like it. You exercise self-control. When you like yourself, you choose to eat an apple for a daily snack instead of indulging in a big fat chocolate chip cookie from Starbucks. It is obvious what the cookie would do to your waistline. When you like yourself you choose to avoid a second date with the attractive man who mentions that he beat his stupid first wife. Since people do what they have always done, statistically we know that he would beat you, too.

Be a good relationship manager and do and say things that are in the best interest of other people as well as yourself. Everyone enjoys appreciation and acknowledgement. You are observant and seize the opportunity to treat another with kindness such as holding open a door when someone’s hands are full. On a date, you can compliment a man for his great choice of restaurant especially if you enjoy the cuisine. You do these things because they are the right thing to do.

Did you know that if you have low self-esteem, you tend to choose unsuitable partners over and over again? Self-love is not only essential for attracting the right partner for your most awesome relationship but also for managing it well.
